The reason that I have decided to start a blog about products made in the USA is because I am on a mission to find products that are made by American owned companies. The reason why I am so dedicated and determined to do something about not being able to find products that are made in the USA is very simple.
Last christmas I went to do some toy shopping for my grandchildren. Since hubby just had knee replacement, our finances were at an all time low and we had to watch our budget. So off we went to Walmart and Kmart and we searched through all the isles for something decent to buy and were totally disgusted about 10 minutes into the shopping spree.
Almost everything was made in China or Thailand or anyplace except America. Most of it was junk that didn’t look like it would last 5 minutes after it came out of the package.
When my kids were young, that 20+ years ago, we had more of a choice of toys and they were better made it seemed. There were items that were made in America! It sure didn’t look like it does now! Everything is so mass produced and the quality really stinks! I really didn’t have a clue what to buy the girls. So, I wound up buying them some arts and crafts projects and a game by Milton Bradley. The game was made in the USA but I think some of the parts were not.
There has been so much in the news lately about lead in toys and overseas products that it scares me to think of little babies and kiddies putting this poison in their mouths. I decided to step up to the plate and go to bat for these kids. I hope more parents do also.
So my journey begins as I start to research companies that are American owned. I realize that I’m not going to find every single item that is made in the USA and I’m sure you realize it to, but as long as the company is American owned, then to buy from them is keeping dollars here in this country and jobs as well!
